Dining @ Blackbird, Makati

After a hectic week of work and meetings here in Manila we landed with our hosts for a relaxing brunch at Blackbird. Housed in the Neilson Tower building, which is the remnants of Neilson Field, an airforce base as well as the original domestic and international terminal for Manila, it is the last remaining vestige of the whole complex.  The hangers are long gone and the runways have been turned into roads and avenues as the city of Makati has swallowed it up.  Its stepping back into a time when aviation was pioneering and the likes of Jet Star and Ryan Air had not blighted the heavens with their budget travel.

So now it is a very chic bar and grill which offers up smart weekend brunches, we dined alfresco shaded in the rear courtyard and we are told it has a wonderful evening dinner menu and is also well worth a late evening drink.  With its crisp black & white interior hi-lited with a few luxe touches, it sure sets the standard in Manila for a fine time.

Just a entree nibble, these are the tastiest and cutest Scotched Quail eggs on Betel leaves.

Nasi Goreng

Soft poached on Courgette muffin.

Breakfast in a bun.

A fine place to fly into for a fabulous time.
